PBA's Phil Gwyther plays overseas!

Friday 23rd August 2013

Pembrokeshire Badminton Associations Phil Gwyther has been away on holiday but still found time for badminton on his trek!

“This was the only badminton court I played on while enjoying my long stay in New Zealand.  Note the "groundsman" busily chewing away to keep the court neat and tidy. No problem booking the court at all (and it was free!).   Also attached is a photo of the changing room and shower.  It was brilliant!!  It looks quaint and ramshackle with the water tank balanced precariously on top of the tree, but the shower was hot and efficient, although I'm not used to having branches coming through the walls of the cubicle. We also enjoyed a game of outdoor pool with some excellent recycling of old tins for pockets. The occasion was a four day trek on the Banks Peninsula - miles from a road and civilisation so I was quite surprised to see all the sporting facilities.

Thanks for the photos Phil – pleased to see the game of Badminton is enjoyed across the world – perhaps Pembrokeshire should host a grass tournament next?
