Pembrokeshire players were well represented in many of the groups at the Pembroke Leg of the South Wales Shuttles series. Best results of the day were two Golds in the singles for Haverfordwest players Rakshith Vijay (under 13's) and Will Hughes (under 17's).
It was especially pleasing for Rakshith, partly because he has been out with a broken wrist for some weeks and also because he moved from second to first place in the rankings after five tournaments with only two left to play.
For Will also it was a great tournament as he beat the First, second and fourth ranked players during the afternoon, although he remains in third spot due to playing less tournaments than the others. He also notched up a silver in the doubles.
Not to be outdone Pembrokeshire young ladies also picked up some medals with the best result from them being Gold in Under 11 Doubles and silver in under 11 singles for Jasmine Owen. Hannah Douglas and Maisie Kite showed their consistency by picking up another silver in under 11 doubles . It was a good silver for Chloe Douglas in under 13 singles and Eve Humphries also took silver in the under 15 singles. A total of six medals for the girls!
All of these players look well placed to represent South Wales against North Wales in a month's time if they perform as expected in the last two tournaments at Cardiff and Bridgend.
