The Year six pupils from the charmingly named Stepaside Junior School in Pembrokeshire had an enjoyable afternoon's badminton as part of their end of term week of activities.
Development Officer Phil Gwyther took the 30 pupils, teachers and helpers through a series of movement skills, serving practises, half court rallies and then full doubles games.
The enjoyment that the players obviously showed, demonstrated once again what a great sport badminton is for Junior schools, as a group of complete beginners got to grips with the game and were soon having fun and competitive matches. Headmaster Peter Griffiths, himself an ex player, was delighted at how the pupils enjoyed it and got stuck in to the sport, although not quite so delighted when he ended up as the only player on the day to get whacked on the finger by his over enthusiastic young partner in one game.
The 5 x 60 club at Tenby Comprehensive School looks like it will have a lot of new recruits in September.
